English Meaning - Darling, dearly loved, from the Old english deorling.

Origin - English

Mummy chose the name Daryl for me as she say I am her little darling and I am dearly loved by her..... Also, she hope I will be loved by all too.

The meaning of Sheryl

(French) Darling; (Germanic) man, free man; (Old English) meadow shire; bright meadow

Sheryl is of Germanic, English, and Old English origin and it is used mainly in English.

Sheryl is a variant form of Charlotte (French, German, Dutch, English and Scandinavian) and also an English spelling variant of Cheryl (English and German).

The reason why mummy chose the name Sheryl for me is that she wanted a name with similar meaning as kor kor. Likewise, the reason she chose kor kor's name too!

Creation of the Blog

Mummy finally decide to create a Blog for me. She say this is a little something for me to read when I grow up. Things that she want me to know and she like to remember, she will jot it down here.

As this is created after I turned One Year Old, so she will try to 'dig' from her memory for those things that happened from the day I was born till now.

But one thing I know for sure is that Mummy is IN LOVE with me!

:-)
Daryl

Mummy added me in this blog as well after I 'arrived' on 17th November 2010. This will be the 'diary' where she will updated the growth of kor kor and me.

We both know that in mummy's heart, we are her bao bei and this is a forever love from her unconditionally.

:-)

4th Lesson

The shirt that Daryl is wearing is the one and only, coz it is made by his grandmother (my MIL)!

This is the 4th lesson for Zoophonics. However, it seems that Daryl is not interested in story telling or the phonics reading as he keep on running about whenever it is the storytelling or phonics reading session. As Kaleb is also the same, Wanlin and me think that perhaps they are still not ready for such lesson yet. Thus, we decided to pull them out and look for other enrichment class that do not required them to sit down that much....muahahaa.
However, due to Zoophonics policy, we have to give a month notice for withdrawnal, thus, we used our deposit to pay for another month fee.

Hotdog Dance

Daryl will usually not sit thru to watch the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse cartoon, but he will only get really interested at the ending part where they played the Hot Dog song where he will try to dance along.

Finally managed to capture him on video doing the dance.......just that as Shawn was playing viwawa, so the music of viwawa wahjong can be clearly heard too.

Decoding of Daryl's wordings

I still remember those baby words that my little cousin, Cassandra used to say when she was around Daryl's age. Those words, 'invented' by herself like buka which refer to durians and repika which refer to ribena.

Well, it does sound cute right.

Now, my little boy also have his own words 'invention', and these are words that people close to him are able to understand, especially his nanny and me.

Below are the decode of some of his wordings.

pa pa ya - not the fruit but refer to his papa's car or his papa's stuff

ona ona - refer to a handful of stuff, like car signal lights, traffic light, barrier at carpark, street lights and street sign board metal pole etc.

ota/oya - orange (both fruit and colour)

ta ta - star

ple (sound like pearl) - apple

ba - bus

si - taxi

ng ah (with his hands holding on his birdie) - he want to pee!

nana - banana

nai nai - to take something

mona - the nursery song "The more we get together"

wawa - the nursery song "Ni wa wa"

Gong - (if he is not calling his ah gong) the nursery song "My grandfather clock"

tea - the nursery song "Do re mi"

ter - water

momo - motorcycle

sunshine - the nursery song "You are my sunshine"

ninenine - nice (he like to say this to tell people his clothes is nice with his fingers holding on his shirt)

3rd Lesson

Bubbles time is happy times for all kids.

Posing before the lesson start.

This is the 2nd time I get Shawn to join in the lesson. Good thing is that the English teacher today is back to our usual teacher and not the stand in teacher last week who only allow 1 parent to accompany the kids.

It seem that Daryl only cannot concentrate and sit still on the floor during story telling time as he is okay with the others like art & craft, fruit tasting, games, dancing to the song etc.

For me, I like the part during the chinese lesson where they have a part on the nature teaching, teaching the kids, different types of fruits and vegetable (kids like it best if it is fruit as they get to eat it). Also, I am happy that both English and Chinese lesson have art & craft which allow the kids to paint or do some handicraft.

2nd Lesson

Today is Daryl 2nd lesson in Zoophonics but it is Shawn's first time attending the lesson with Daryl. However, Daryl's teacher is on medical leave, thus a relief teacher stand in, who is more strict, in the sense that she only allow 1 parent to accompany their child and when she saw Shawn is videoing, she stopped him immediately and say that only 1 parent is allow to be in the room. As such, Shawn's impression of Zoophonics is not good at all.

However, I do feel that this relief teacher is rather good in her teaching too except that she is too by the book.

1st lesson

Cleaning the table top where Daryl dirty it.

Cleaning Daryl's dirty hand while little Kaleb is still busy painting.

Mummy helping Daryl to touch up/colour his pear.
Finally, I decided to go ahead and sign Daryl up for the Zoo Toddlers lesson (with Chinese lesson) at Zoophonics together with Wanlin despite Shawn protest.

Although Daryl have attended trial lesson at Kindermusic, Gymboree and JWT, we did not sign him up for lesson for any coz Shawn alway find the lesson too expensive and not worthwhile giving the reason that Daryl is too young. So this time, I decided to sign up even though Zoophonics do not have trial lesson as I feel Daryl is big enough for lesson since he is already 22 months old.

Shawn dropped us (together with Wanlin and little Kaleb) before he went to run his errands. Daryl was excited the moment he entered the School. He went and sit beside some older kids who are also waiting for their lesson.

Today, they started the Chinese lesson first before the English lesson. Daryl is happy and enjoy his lesson except the part on story telling where kids are supposed to sit around the teacher to listen. My active little terror cannot sit still and will move around in the class, but overall, he is fine as he did not cry or fuss. Can say that it is a good start.
