Origin - English

Mummy chose the name Daryl for me as she say I am her little darling and I am dearly loved by her..... Also, she hope I will be loved by all too.

The meaning of Sheryl

(French) Darling; (Germanic) man, free man; (Old English) meadow shire; bright meadow

Sheryl is of Germanic, English, and Old English origin and it is used mainly in English.

Sheryl is a variant form of Charlotte (French, German, Dutch, English and Scandinavian) and also an English spelling variant of Cheryl (English and German).

The reason why mummy chose the name Sheryl for me is that she wanted a name with similar meaning as kor kor. Likewise, the reason she chose kor kor's name too!

Creation of the Blog

Mummy finally decide to create a Blog for me. She say this is a little something for me to read when I grow up. Things that she want me to know and she like to remember, she will jot it down here.

As this is created after I turned One Year Old, so she will try to 'dig' from her memory for those things that happened from the day I was born till now.

But one thing I know for sure is that Mummy is IN LOVE with me!

:-)
Daryl

Mummy added me in this blog as well after I 'arrived' on 17th November 2010. This will be the 'diary' where she will updated the growth of kor kor and me.

We both know that in mummy's heart, we are her bao bei and this is a forever love from her unconditionally.

:-)

Daryl roll off the bed for the 1st time

Sometimes we will let Daryl sleep with us. That is between me and Shawn on our queen size bed. Especially when he is sick coz we need to monitor him mah. There are also times when he cried in the middle of the night and refused to sleep in his playpen then we will let him sleep with us.

Last night, as usually, he cried at about 12 plus 1am. Then he refused to sleep in his playpen, so I ask if he want to sleep with us on the bed and he nodded his head. So I put him on our bed. Initially was thinking of putting him back on his playpen when he fall asleep. However, I also fell asleep thus did not carry him back to his playpen. Then later in the night, Daryl started to cry, and Shawn wake me up asking if I put Daryl back to his playpen as he was not on our bed. I say no and we start to look for him in the dark. Guess where we found him??? He was at the foot of our bed stuck on the bed platform coz his playpen was right at the foot of our bed thus prevented him from rolling onto the floor. The reason why it took us sometime to find him is that he was wearing white and somehow blend in with our white colour quilt cover.

This is the first time he roll off the bed. Although he sleep like a little clock, he have never really roll off the bed, except for the other time when he sleep on the bed with me alone (think Shawn was away on in camp training) when he was on the edge top of those pillows used to block him from falling off the bed. We was both shocked and we do find it abit funny for him to be stuck over there. Then I started to wonder and ask Shawn did he actually roll off or did either of us actually kick him off there.

Anyway, after that, he was awake and he tried to keep me awake by keep on tapping me. Good thing is that he was blocked by his playpen thus did not roll onto the floor thus did not knock his head. Also, when we tried asking him in the night and in the morning again if he feel pain anywhere, he only point to his left feet. But he did not cried in pain when I check on his feet by squeezing it. Thus we assumed that he was not hurt by this little 'accident'.

1st attempt of making snow skin mooncakes

The pink colour is the strawberry favour while the yellow is the mango favour.

The interior of the strawberry and mango mooncake, showing the dried strawberry and dried mango.

Pandan favour with lots of melon seeds and double yolks.

3 favours of mooncake

We tried the snow skin mooncake Geok Peng made last year, so this year, Celeste and me ask her to 'teach' us , thus we arrange to go her house today to learn mooncake making. Together, we jio Erica and Karen along. We started making about 11am, and we are done about 1 pm plus I think. The whole process was fun and frankly speaking, it was not tough to make snow skin mooncake at all, just that mixing the ingredients and doughing the skin can really make one arms ache.
We make 3 favours in total. 2 favour of small mooncakes without yolk : (1) Strawberry favour with lots dried strawberry and (2) Mango favour with lots dried mango. 1 favour of big mooncake with yolk : Pandan with lots of melon seeds (I mixed the ingredients and dough the Pandan skin)
Geok Peng comment is that our mooncakes overall look ok and presentable, which is consider good for first timers. Heehee
The taste are also good. Most of the people who I did give them to try comment that it taste good and the lian rong is nice, not too sweet. Like me, most of them prefer Strawberry favour as guess it is because the dried strawberry add abit of sour taste to the sweet lian rong ba.

1st attempt of muffin baking

It done! Don't they just look delicious!

Hurray, the muffin are raising! And I am excited and happy!

This is my 1st attempt to bake muffins after getting the receipes from my colleague and also after I spent $120 to repair my oven which I have never used before, as think the heating part will get moist and will malfunction if never used for long time. Then the man who repair my oven told me that oven need to run at least once a month even we are not using.

I decided to bake today as my close freinds, Wee Nah, Grace, Lynn and her husband to be are coming over for lunch to have a small belated birthday celebration for me. No cake as it is belated and chinese belief is no belated celebration mah....muahahaa....

The result is that, the muffins look delicious however comments is that it is slightly too sweet. So next time I will cut sugar leh since I do add chocolate chips and rasin into my muffins.

Daryl's 1st Kiddy ride

Previously, we only let Daryl sat on the ride for fun, that is we did not put in any coin. Merely let him sit for sitting only. Today, on my Birthday, we decided to let him tried the 'moving' ride, and he really did enjoy his ride.
