English Meaning - Darling, dearly loved, from the Old english deorling.

Origin - English

Mummy chose the name Daryl for me as she say I am her little darling and I am dearly loved by her..... Also, she hope I will be loved by all too.

The meaning of Sheryl

(French) Darling; (Germanic) man, free man; (Old English) meadow shire; bright meadow

Sheryl is of Germanic, English, and Old English origin and it is used mainly in English.

Sheryl is a variant form of Charlotte (French, German, Dutch, English and Scandinavian) and also an English spelling variant of Cheryl (English and German).

The reason why mummy chose the name Sheryl for me is that she wanted a name with similar meaning as kor kor. Likewise, the reason she chose kor kor's name too!

Creation of the Blog

Mummy finally decide to create a Blog for me. She say this is a little something for me to read when I grow up. Things that she want me to know and she like to remember, she will jot it down here.

As this is created after I turned One Year Old, so she will try to 'dig' from her memory for those things that happened from the day I was born till now.

But one thing I know for sure is that Mummy is IN LOVE with me!

:-)
Daryl

Mummy added me in this blog as well after I 'arrived' on 17th November 2010. This will be the 'diary' where she will updated the growth of kor kor and me.

We both know that in mummy's heart, we are her bao bei and this is a forever love from her unconditionally.

:-)

Breakfast at Acacia Resturant in Bishan Park

We decided to have breakfast in Bishan Park before Shawn go for his weekly soccer game, since the market near our house is closed for renovation.

We choose Acacia Resturant as we saw it breakfast menu was at reasonable price, further more, we thought Canopy the other resturant beside Acacia which was crowd is a vegetarian resturant. After we ordered our food, Shawn decided to check out Canopy as we do not understand why a vegetarian resturant is so crowd in the morning, while I busy snapping photos of Daryl playing with the plastic utensil which the waitress give him.

After checking out the menu of Canopy, Shawn realised it is not a vegetarian resturant however, their pricing are slightly more expensive than Acacia, also, he run into Jean our next door neighbour with her elder boy Issac.

We consider have a 'peaceful' breakfast, coz Daryl was so happy playing with the plastic utensil that for the FIRST time, he did not once ask for food. Well the food was ok for the price and the portion was just nice.

Then it start to drizzle when we about to head home. So we give Jean and Issac a lift since Jean did not drive over.

Haircut at Okinawa, Compass Point

This is Daryl 3rd haircut since birth. Yes only 3rd haircut as his hair is not thick and do not grow so fast.

Beside his first haircut (shaving botak) at lunar 4th month old, where he is still ok and did not cried. His 2nd haircut after he turn 1 year old was a terrible experience even though we brought him back to the same salon nearby our house where he have his first haircut by the same lady. He was crying and moving so much throughout his 2nd haircut till we can see that the lady was already piss off.

So for his 3rd haircut, we decided not to go back to the same lady or same salon as we find the lady not very patient. In fact we are looking for one that have those car seat to distract him. But alas, we are unable to find one in our neighbourhood salon and those in the shopping malls are just too pricey for a kid haircut. Then, we decided to try this $10 haircut - Okinawa in Compass Point when we walked pass it.

Although Daryl still cried and make quite a fuss in the salon, but the good thing is that the lady cutting for him was fast in the begining where he was still ok and not fussing. But best of all is that she is patient and careful with the noisy and crying Daryl.

The damage toy drum

This drum is bought by my mum for Daryl on 12th September when she help to take care of him while I go learn and make snow skin mooncake. After a month plus of playing with it, little terrorist finally damage it tonight. I was so shocked when I saw his little hands inside the drum after I turn to look at him when he make some noise. Luckily, his little hands did not suffer any cuts. However, I still wondering how the hell did he poke thru it....

Daryl can call ma (grandma)

Strangely, Daryl are learning and starting to address people other than ME...so sad. He can now call ma (ah ma, grandma) which his nanny teach him to call her neighbour who Daryl will visit them daily during weekday.

He seem to like that old granny alot, coz his nanny say, after he can call ma, he will keep pointing and saying ma, indicating that he want to go visit that granny. Then his nanny say, Daryl do not know how to call her auntie yet, then I told her, let him call him ah ma too lah...and when I ask Daryl to call he only say ma....just 1 word.....muahaha.

So last evening, when my parent come over, I told my mum that Daryl can call ah ma, and she keep asking him to call. When Daryl really call, I can see my mum on cloud 9 lor.....and when ask Daryl to call ah gong, he say kong instead....hahaha......his pronouciation is so off that it sound like 'knock' in hokkien. Nevertheless, his grandparent were so happy last evening....especially when he dance to the song Hockey Pokey. Coz, he will try to follow the song and will put out his hand (alway left hand coz he cannot differentiate left and right yet), then he will hold on something to try lift up his leg and lastly, he will keep turning himself around.

Daryl can call papa also...but also 1 word pa and not looking at Shawn and call. So Shawn comfort me by saying that Daryl also have not start calling him yet mah....

Understanding and talking...

Daryl seem to understand alot of things that we are saying or telling him. He can follow instruction and pass things to Shawn when I say "Give it to daddy" or to me when Shawn say "Give it to mummy". He will nod or shake his head to tell us whether he want or do not want something.

However, he still "refuse" to call daddy or mummy, although he can say a handful of other words like cat (sometime say 猫, ya, he know they are the same), bus, ball, car, mum mum, ne ne, go go go, kor kor (yes, he call his nanny's son first), jie jie (nanny's neighbour)...etc....

However, his pronunciation is abit off for some words. Like cat he will say kat, then bus he will say ba (without the S) etc....but it is still fun seeing him learning and trying. But when will our stubborn little boy start to call daddy and mummy.......still waiting for it.....

Daryl like wearing winter wear

This is funny. We dropped by the winter wear section in OG Chinatown after we went to checking out some agencies in People Park for our Penang Trip in November. My mum and me decided to let Daryl put on a winter wear to see how bulky he will look. Then who know that after putting on, he refused to take it off and start walking and running about like robot with his hand by his side. He was enjoying himself so much in the winter wear and his robotic act that he actually fuss and cried when we removed the jacket from him. Then he keep looking at other jacket and nodding to us that he want to wear......silly little boy.

Wean off pacificer

We can proudly annouced that Daryl have wean off his habit of sucking pacificer!!

In fact, all along, Daryl was not really addicted to his pacificer, coz we will only give it to him when we try to coax him to sleep or at times to hush him. He was never sucking his pacificer all day. The hardest part to wean him off is not to keep his pacificer from him but from his daddy, Shawn. Man being man, Shawn is ever ready to give Daryl his pacificer to hush him or to coax him to sleep.

So on 24th September, I decided to hide Daryl pacificer, although I was not very sure if to really start on this very day as Daryl is still down with cough and flu. As expected, Daryl was cranky and Shawn was looking for the pacificer so I lied to him that I have threw it away. Then we tried to coax Daryl to sleep by giving him the bolster and it worked.

Since then, Daryl only need to hug his bolster to sleep. I am so glad that I stay firm on my decision to wean him off his pacificer!!
