English Meaning - Darling, dearly loved, from the Old english deorling.

Origin - English

Mummy chose the name Daryl for me as she say I am her little darling and I am dearly loved by her..... Also, she hope I will be loved by all too.

The meaning of Sheryl

(French) Darling; (Germanic) man, free man; (Old English) meadow shire; bright meadow

Sheryl is of Germanic, English, and Old English origin and it is used mainly in English.

Sheryl is a variant form of Charlotte (French, German, Dutch, English and Scandinavian) and also an English spelling variant of Cheryl (English and German).

The reason why mummy chose the name Sheryl for me is that she wanted a name with similar meaning as kor kor. Likewise, the reason she chose kor kor's name too!

Creation of the Blog

Mummy finally decide to create a Blog for me. She say this is a little something for me to read when I grow up. Things that she want me to know and she like to remember, she will jot it down here.

As this is created after I turned One Year Old, so she will try to 'dig' from her memory for those things that happened from the day I was born till now.

But one thing I know for sure is that Mummy is IN LOVE with me!

:-)
Daryl

Mummy added me in this blog as well after I 'arrived' on 17th November 2010. This will be the 'diary' where she will updated the growth of kor kor and me.

We both know that in mummy's heart, we are her bao bei and this is a forever love from her unconditionally.

:-)

Penang Trip - Day 3

Mummy and me learn how to call the Penang telephone (home and mobile) after we call the cab driver successfully in the afternoon. So mummy finally get in touch with her ex colleague who shift back to Penang. So her colleague came with her husband to pick us from our hotel and brought us to another famous night food centre around the vicinity of our hotel.

Well, of course we eat again (that what holiday is about right, shop and eat) and mummy enjoy her short catch up with her friend.

The exterior of the shop.

After the nice feast of food, the friend uncle drove us to Penang oldest tau sa piah shop to get some local goodies to bring back home as gifts before we head back to our hotel.

Daryl say :"Oh no, mummy I dun want porridge!"

I order the porride for Daryl, but who know he prefer other food instead.

Penang Char Kway Teow

The tasty wanton mee which Daryl love to eat.

Well we call the friendly uncle (cab driver) and he brought us to New Lane to eat their local hawker food which is cheap and good. Doesn't the popiah look make you hungry?

We have a good time shopping (meaning we buy more things) in this big mall. Although the lunch in their food court is not so great but it is acceptable. However their freshly make kueh bulu in the food court is very delicious, which is why Daryl keep asking for more, till I have to hide it out of his sight.

The Christmas decoration in the Mall.

As Penang is an island surrounded by sea, you can see the sea almost everywhere.

The exterior (the other side from where we alight) of Queensbay Mall.

We took a cab straight to Penang biggest shopping mall - Queensbay Mall after our last day of hotel breakfast. The cab driver was chatty and friendly, providing us information of where to eat and go etc.

Thru him, we then understand that it was not easy being a cab driver in Penang coz in order to queue outside the hotel or a shopping mall, the driver have to be member. Also, you can only get cab at shopping mall or hotel but can hardly get it along the roads. As he is not a member of Queensbay Mall, he is not allow to pick up customer from there unless the customer call him. Also, he is not allow to wait for us there, so he give us his namecard and tell us to call him later when we are going off and he can drive us to eat some nice local food and also to buy their local goodies at a flat fare (forget how much le).

Penang Trip - Day 2

2nd day dinner venue. A bak ku teh restaurant in the shopping mall beside our hotel. Food is ok....but we still think that the outside bak ku teh will be better.

Low tide.

The seafood restaurant opposite the hawker centre that we find it expensive to try, although it does have a nice view of the sea as you can see it is situated on top of the sea....

We change our daily breakfast at the hotel to only first 2 day so that we can get to enjoy their local breakfast outside. Today is the first day of our hotel breakfast, and actually it is still not bad lor...heehee. We start our sightseeing after a good breakfast. We took a cab to City Hall there and from there we walk to the Kuan Yin Temple then took a walk around the area.

Then about lunch time, we head to a shopping mall - Prangin Mall (the only one we saw which is where the chendol stall is located) to have lunch in an aircon area as outside was really hot. We just pick any of the restaurant to eat then we do some shopping in the mall before my dad went for massage, and both Shawn and me have our haircut while my mum take care of Daryl first. Then when we are done, it my mum's turn to enjoy her hairwash. In fact, we enjoy our stay in the salon as the hairstylists are rather friendly. They are the one that tell us to try the chendol at level 1.

It was raining when we head back to hotel to refresh ourselves. As the sky look gloomy, we decided to give Batu Feringgi Beach a miss and have our dinner nearby the hotel in case it rain again.

A tired and hungry Daryl.

The tim sum spread.

Our tasty Tim Sum Breakfast at Bali Hai.

We are all very tired as our flight is at 7.25am where we have to reach airport 2 hours earlier so basically we all wake up before 5am. Poor Daryl was as tired coz after he wake up at 5 am plus, he cannot get back to sleep. To make it worse, Jetstar seat was so crampy thus not comfortable at all and furthermore, the journey was only about an hour.

A good deed

We are going back to my MIL house for dinner today, so as usual, we will head home first before picking Daryl from the nanny.

As Shawn was held up by work, I walked back home from the bus stop opposite AMK Hub. Half way walking, a little boy who is crying and shouting for daddy, ran passed me. Thinking that maybe he was naughty and the parent were just ahead of him, I did not really bother. But later, I realised, the boy was actually 'lost' and was looking for his daddy when I saw an old man tell the boy to go and wait for his daddy under the void deck as it was drizzling.

I decided to help the little boy. I went over and ask him if he have his daddy or mummy number. But he say he do not know and he say his mummy is now in office working but he do not remember her office number. Then the panic and frighten poor boy ask me "aunite can you help me find my daddy? I cannot go home without my daddy." Then I asked where do he stay and he told me. So I tell him, I will bring him home and hold his hand hoping to comfort him so that he will not cried so hard.

Suddenly, a group of teenage boy ran over and say, that the little boy father is over the other side looking for him. So we walk over the other side to find his daddy. With a teary eyes, the little boy cannot see probably and when I ask if that is his daddy, his cute little reply is : "wait, let me see first." Then after he confirm it his daddy, he ran over and keep saying : "I am sorry, daddy." And his daddy ask him to say thank you to me first.

Why is this inside this blog? Simple reason - I just want my children to know the joy of helping people. I may not have done much for the little boy. But at the very least, I comfort him alittle by helping him and holding his hand. Also, I prevent him from falling into any baddies hands. Lastly, I am a mother, so I know how anxious and worry his parents will be. So keeping the little boy safe and comforting him is the least I can do.

This is the 2nd time I help a lost boy. The last time was when I was still pregnant with Daryl.

My little terror, shall you read this when you grow up, remember that mummy only wish is for you to grow up to be a kind, helpful and useful man, who is alway ready to lend a helping hand within your means as it never hurt to help.

1st attempt of chocolate chip cookies baking

These are hand mould de....hahaha....coz lazy to use cutter lor....then as I bake these batch later, so I bake for a longer time but only once, so it is softer then the 1st batch.

The only bear shape in the heart shape, coz I give up using the bear cookies cutter coz it is harder to remove the dough from the cutter lor....I bake this batch of cookies first and twice so these batch are harder than the 2nd batch.
Finally I found a cookie receipe online and decided to try baking it. Got all the ingredients on Friday evening from Phoon Huat then on Sunday, I finally try making and baking it during the afternoon while Shawn look after Daryl.
The result was not as ideal coz the cookies are not crispy as per stated in the receipe. Shawn say it is not sweet enough, my BIL also say it is not sweet enough and not crispy, and my colleagues who tried say sweetness is ok, just that it is not crispy enough.
